Artist Review: Alex Woods – “Fires” Single

Review by: Justyn Brodsky

A dynamically feel-good track will never disappoint you.

That’s why Alex Woods‘ debut single “Fires” is a great track to introduce yourself with. So I gotta hand it to this young artist; he set out to make an impression, and so far I’m sold on him.

His high-range vocal structures are definitely one of the biggest highlights on this track. And the female harmonies add a lot of spice to this track, and I’m itching to hear more of what she may offer in the future. Regardless, both voices absolutely compliment each other and the lyrics definitely tell a story.

The up-tempo feel in this song reminds me of Copeland’s earlier albums, and even though this song has mainstream appeal, I think it could also be a charm among indie fans as well. Woods doesn’t try to overdose you on any one-factor; there’s a lot of versatility going on here. It’s witty, fun, and a song like “Fires” could easily warm you up.

For a debut track, I’m beyond impressed with the structures, the production value, the authenticity, and the overall nature of the track altogether. This is Alex Woods first solo effort, and even though this song is an incredible first release, I’m also interested in researching his previous musical activity; be it bands, groups, acts, or anything that can display more of his influences. Because I’m eager to find out more about this artist.

This song is absolutely well crafted and spot-on with its performance value. Check out “Fires” for yourself, and chances are you’ll be sold on Alex Woods too.
