Artist Review: Engell – “Been Looking For” Single

Review by: Justyn Brodsky & Christina Myers

A very eclectic and experimental exercise into the realm of EDM and ambience. Recording Artist Engell brings us a very versatile edge in his new single “Been Looking For”.

With great experimentation in diversity and versatility, this artist brings a very likable, soulful, and passionate approach into the world of Electronic music without overdosing you on the noise factor. The song gently brings you into a buildup of emotions, and other moods that solidify the overall approach. And it’s safe to say that this track also expresses the vocals through melody and narratives alike. It’s something that makes you think, feel, and wonder what’s in the mind of its creator.

The production value is right where it needs to be, and can definitely be a great draft pick for a movie score. Engell has a sound that harbors many thoughts, emotions, and an expressive nature that grabs you on a personal level. It’s a deep song, with many light and dark sensations of reflection throughout the song’s buildup. And as the song plays out, you definitely begin to think for yourself about what this song means to the creator, as well as what it means to you. And I believe the balance between audio and imagery are perfectly presented as the song curiously keeps you listening all the way to the end.

This is definitely a song with deep meaning, and has moments that really grasp at your soul. Take a listen to “Been Looking For” and see (as well as hear) what the song means to you. It’s anthemic and a very dynamic adventure.

Artist Review: Trusoul Davis

Review by: Justyn Brodsky

Bringing back the smooth R&B sound we’ve all come to know over the 90’s era, and a touch of today’s Neo Soul sensibility that beautifully compliments the style and song delivery, Cleveland rising artist Trusoul Davis has brought a very sensual and passionate sound to the table with his infectious vocal melodies, and naturally gifted voice that perfectly showcases the music he has been creating over the years.

Trusoul probably could name off an endless list of influences, but when I take a listen to him, I hear a very great take on a genre that really knows how to capture the soul. His song “What About Me” off of his most recent album really demonstrates the heart behind the talent and really puts different musical focuses throughout the song’s structure. The intro is very curious, and even puts some theatrical foreshadowing into the song’s content as his very impressive one-track verse showcases Trusoul‘s sensual, real, and attractive vocal approach that keeps the listener interested, and perhaps in an anticipated state by wondering what the Chorus is going to bring to the approach.

The Chorus does not disappoint, at all. Just like the 90’s influence that was spoken of with some fantastically executed vocal overdubs and room for harmonies, it just comes together as one powerful Chorus that brings every true melody most effective in this song to the forefront, while keeping everything interesting in the backdrop, and side panels of the mix. Trusoul definitely knows how to melt your heart with beautiful vocal melodies, especially in his chance to bring forth a flawlessly performed, and produced Chorus like the one here in “What About Me”.

It’s hard to find R&B nowadays that isn’t smeared with several Feature Artists (Rappers, Singers, etc.). It’s refreshing to hear one brilliant artist put his self-taught work and solo-vocals strictly into the music’s entirety. And this comes as no surprise coming from an Artist that has an insatiable love for the 90s (as most of us do). Trusoul Davis has this song and the rest of his Album for sale, and is also able to be heard on ReverbNation as well as a nation-wide range of Radio Stations, Podcasts, Music Blogs, Music Retailers, and more. I truly recommend this Artist in every way. Chances are if you listen to this song, you’ll want to hear them all. Prepare to become instant-fan status after lending your eardrums to Trusoul Davis.

Artist Review: Billy Roberts & The Rough Riders – “Only One” Single

Review by: Justyn Brodsky

Catchy, crafty, and very soulful might be a few ways to describe Billy Roberts & The Rough Riders’ exercise in eclectic mixes of Rock and Pop with their new single, “Only One”, which is a track that’s on their anticipated new album, Greenbah.

With a very tender Beatles-era vibe, Billy Roberts brings a sound to the table that is very universal, fun-loving, uplifting, and can be booked as a live act just about anywhere. They’re not too loud and rowdy, but at the same time can bring the energy to the dance floor and will definitely have you humming along to the Chorus of this catchy single.

There’s a great interactive exchange between both the rhythm section, and the guitar/piano textures that compliment it from beginning to end. Roberts’ voice gives us an R.E.M. kind of feel, together with his vocal delivery and range. And also knows how to choose his melodies wisely with his syllable usage. So we have an impressive backbone with Roberts’ craft of lyricism, and the appropriate factors of talent he utilizes to make this song effective and hard to get out of your head.

The production value is very natural, well-rounded, and showcases the band’s unit as a whole without any post-production antics that could make or break this classic Pop-oriented take on Rock. In a way, “Only One” to me sounds like an upbeat ballad with a cruising tempo. And I can easily hear this song being played both softly as a classic ballad, and the upbeat version as it is. If I had to vote between the two methods, I’d say the up-tempo sensibility the band chose is in best interest for this song. It’s clever, fun, and has a relatable sound that almost any passionate Rock listener can enjoy.

Definitely give this song a listen for yourself. Either way, no matter how you dissect it, it’s something you’re going to genuinely enjoy. And will most likely entice you to check out more of Billy Roberts catalogue, as well as perhaps purchasing Greenbah upon its release. We encourage it highly.

Artist Review: Natalie Jean

Review by: Justyn Brodsky

After scoping out the aura, vibe and sound that talented Bombshell Starlet Natalie Jean has put into the musical presence and image around her, it comes as no surprise that she is well on her way to some major things!

She is quite the trifecta; brains, beauty, talent…you name it. She’s been nominated for a slew of Awards, and has won many. And right now her most recent remix, “Red Room”, has really given her career a major boost and has been recognized on many other platforms like Jamsphere and ReverbNation — in which she also signed to donate 1/2 of her album sales to a charity that ReverbNation is doing.

“Red Room” to me is an explosion of high-end EDM and Pop sensibilities with a heavy presence. And with Natalie Jean‘s perfect range for this song with a very expressive and well-toned voice to compliment the song in whole, we have a masterpiece with dead-on production value that puts all the important musical key factors together; making the song catchy, exotic, free spirited, and very uplifting. This is one for the books if you’re an avid EDM or Pop enthusiast. You won’t be disappointed in the least.

This is the type of artist to really keep your eyes on. Or perhaps reach out to before it’s too late. Because like said, as a professional musician myself, my professional opinion is that she will be going to bigger places on the horizons. Mark my words, folks. Artist Reach approval 100%.

Artist Review: Carsen Gray feat. DJ SHUB – Wanna See You (Official Music Video)

Review by: Justyn Brodsky & Dave Welsh

Eye candy, ear candy, and instant-classic status are some definitive ways of summing up Carsen Gray‘s Music Video for her song “Wanna See You” (Featuring DJ SHUB).

This is a video for every music hungry person out there (especially if you’re a male) that are always searching for the next up & coming Artist that’s right on the verge of something very, very big in their shortcomings. This song is catchy, on point, has amazing choreography, black light visuals (including neon green stilettos!), and most of all, an amazing presentation of very talented post production in both the song and video.

And that’s one of the best parts of this song. The production value parallels perfectly with the audio and imagery. And it never outdoes itself in any way. This is the first song and video I’ve seen/heard in a long time where I wanted this song to last much longer than it did. And I mean that in the best way possible. Because it immediately entices you to check out Gray‘s other videos, songs, and back catalogue that she’s put together beautifully in a very short time; which shows me that if she can garner a presence and fan base this quickly, imagine what she can accomplish with a longer period of time.

With many Artists out there creating their spin on the Pop/EDM sensibility right now, I must say that Carsen Gray takes the cake by a landslide. Because most artists that succumb to this genre nowadays normally fall short very quickly. Meanwhile, Gray hits it out of the park, and it’s something I haven’t heard on this level quite yet. So do we recommend her? No. We DEMAND her! She deserves more than a recommendation. By the power invested in me as a music blogger, music service entrepreneur and multi-musician, we demand you to give “Wanna See You”  a watch & listen right now. Just trust us on this one!

Artist Review: WAWA

Review by: Justyn Brodsky & Stephanie Brodsky

All artists have something unique about them. And in life as we know it, we are all dealt our own hand of cards. Some of us with advantages in the hand, and sometimes disadvantages. However, the powers that be for WAWA, a deaf Artist that performs under a persona and genre called Dip Hop, is a prime example and a leader in utilizing a disadvantage into something that gives him more advantages than anything.

So I had to take a listen to his music. This past year in 2016, he released an album called Deaf: So What?! A great collection of charismatic tracks with an assortment of feature Artists, captivating hooks, and a spectrum of inspirational rhymes.

With omittance of curse words and the every day vulgarity that is in a lot of today’s Rap & Hip Hop, it’s refreshing to hear content that is safe for listeners of all ages, and has a little something for everyone. His track “Bounce With Me” is a perfect opening track, and a great example of WAWA‘s baritone-oriented rhyming style, and a female-featured hook in the chorus that drives this song forward and solidifies a very elegant and dynamic sound.

“Dopey Love” is another solid track. One that utilizes a fun play on words, catchy content, and infectious melodies that are almost impossible to get out of your head. This is yet again, another track that reels you in and gets you to continue on to the next song from this album.

That next song is “Faceless Man”. Another feature track with a very captivating beat that grabs you right at the beginning. The production value is very professional and on par with today’s mainstream sensibility. As are the other songs and the rest of the album. One that we at Artist Reach recommend impeccably and without reservation.

If you’re looking for something fresh, fun, and inspirational, Deaf: So What?! is by far one of the best draft picks before the year is out.

Artist Review: Maddam X (Live Performance)

Review by: Justyn Brodsky & Dave Livingston

Welcome to the “Red Light District”. An astonishing live-performance by Pop Starlet, Maddam X. A show with the works, the sex appeal, the energy, sweat, and insatiable talent that captivated the room at the Drom venue.

Dancers, choreography, smoke machines and a burst of energy into the aura of the premier Late Show experience, Maddam X proves right from the very first song, the very first second she takes the stage, that she knows how to make an entrance with her opening song “Red Light District”.

There isn’t one blemish whatsoever in this captivating show experience. You get Maddam X‘s powerful voice and dynamic image the very second the smoke machines go off. From the beginning of the show with the lights off and an anxious audience ready to go with their cell phone cameras, the explosion of R&B/Pop energy blasts off with the dancers choreographed sex appeal paralleling the catchy chorus, and the sensual verses that follow with the stage show diligently following Maddam X‘s lead.

This is a live show where the light show plays an enormous role in the overall stage presence. Red lights perfectly in play for the song’s title and concept, along with the undeniable reception from the crowd to enhance the energy that Maddam feeds off of. Yet, it’s dead obvious that she knows how to capture an audience and hold them in the palm of her hand. Overall, this song is catchy, multifaceted, perfectly executed with the choreography, and showcases Maddam X‘s undeniable talent and hunger for the stage. She’s not just a girl that learned how to take the stage, she downright mastered it. Owns it every second the lights are on, and leaves you wanting more as the show goes on.

“Red Light District” is gonna be available on her upcoming album of the same name, slated for a November release. We call dibs on an autographed copy.

Watch the entire live show in the YouTube link below and witness a live show experience almost filmed from a POV of actually being there in the crowd. You won’t be disappointed.
