An audio and visual experience into versatility, emotion, and a mainstream sound with insatiable likabiliity factors. Leon Rockmore‘s official vid for “Live at 5 (Feat. Lyric Wright) is one of those tracks your are bound to like from the second it starts.

What I love about music videos is the way it adds components to the overall atmosphere; both for the song and visual aspect itself. With choppy editing tricks to esteemed views of cityscapes, this is a ride for the ears, eyes, heart, and soul alike.

Rockmore has a very broad range of style, effectiveness in his rhymes, and dynamic lyrical content. It’s a true piece of Indie Art with extraordinary cinemotagraphy, top-notch production value, and lots of flavor to keep this song memorable as well as unique. With R&B sensibilities carrying a torch in the beat, the drive of this song gives a strong, elite likability factors for anyone that appreciates today’s Hip Hop/R&B sounds, encompassed by yesterday’s influences as part of the integration.

The track is smooth, the camera work in cinematic, charismatic, and in the forefront of the aura. Artist Review: SR Gent

Review by: Justyn Brodsky

In today’s Pop & Hip Hop integrated culture, there’s a lot of dime-a-dozen politics that any critic could knit pick. Then, on the contrary, there are other musicpreneur/bloggers that actually listen to the music and find the appreciation for an artist’s craft. That’s a philosophy we are shining a light on with Atlanta Singer/Hip Hop recording artist SR. Gent with his most recent release, Canorous Camisado LP. A fun, witty, and versatile 26-track album with many twists, turns, and likability factors that carry lyrical club themes that definitely adds to the energy of the content.

With his first track “Aloha”, we have a subtle, pleasant, and well-put-together song with some great hooks that bring out the best of each element the track offers. Meanwhile, “Asocial” is a more upbeat club banger that puts an energy in the playing field that resonates with its predecessor, but all the more shows a more dynamic side to SR‘s execution in his signature songwriting and style.

Now “Don’t Let Me Down” has by far one of the catchiest hooks I’ve heard in quite some time. With SR‘s sing-songy style during the verses, it perfectly parallels the chorus along with the production value. If there’s a radio #1 hit that comes from this album, this track holds the crown.

The chant-worthy “Turn Up Boot Up” once again touches on the sing-songy style, this time with an insatiable gang-vocal chorus that could draw in some relentless crowd participation. And again, we have a ton of versatility with the production value; which not only showcases the most effective way to present SR‘s vocal style, but the beat structures as well. There are some great producers that have contributed to these tracks.

If you’ve made it this far into the LP, then the rest of this record should easily stay in the limelight. Each song offers up something different, however SR. Gent‘s signature sound stays in the stratosphere no matter what approach he takes on.

A little behind the music: Lester R. Smith (also known as SR. Gent) is a passionate Entrepreneur, Artist, Songwriter, and proud Father who dwells in Atlanta, Georgia. Hailing from Tucson, Arizona, his unwavering love for music began early on. The unfortunate loss of his mother at age six, among various other childhood hardships led him down a path of improvement for not only himself, but his family as well. He made a promise to strive for a better life daily, which is a promise he still keeps to this day.

Currently, SR. Gent is the Owner of LTP inc, an independent record label, which he is also signed to along with his label mates CashOnAble, Alpha Prince, and Stefanello. Prior to his musical journey, SR. Gent was enlisted in the U.S. Army during 2007 and medically retired in 2014 after serving in Korea, Germany, and Afghanistan. It wasn’t until 2013 (at age twenty eight) that SR. Gent started writing and recording music.

However, he has been writing poetry since the young age of thirteen, making the transition into the realm of music virtually seamless. SR. Gent is well-known for his depth of words, electrifying delivery, and one-of-a-kind, attention-grabbing melodies. While managing a record label and being a full-time father are of primary focus, he is also a graduate of the esteemed Berklee College of Music.

Artist Review: Roman

Review by: Justyn Brodsky, Dave Welsh, & Martin Abrams

NYC-based Country/Indie Acoustic artist, Roman, that also encompasses a 90’s influence with his dynamic and catchy acoustic-oriented centerpiece to his music, has been building himself quite the empire lately; among fans, presentation, and overall musical inspiration and evolution as a professional musician.

And with that said, his upcoming album, appropriately titled Empire, has collectively been an anticipated release among fans, and also some of Roman‘s best material to date.

Tracks from this upcoming LP like “Thank You” and “Without You Here” demonstrate perfect elements of what to expect from Roman‘s upcoming release. He’s been hard at work in the studio with this album and has yet to show any disappointment with the samples he’s released. His sound is versatile, eclectic, and expresses a very hybrid, emotional, and captivating signature sound that is not only refreshing but also universal in a way where almost anyone can enjoy a musical-approach in the way Roman does.

His album Empire is definitely a collection of tracks that pays homage to not only an insatiable era of music with today’s sensibility, but to his fans as well. And to anyone new that discovers Roman, will be very glad they did.

Artist Review: Stone White – Get On Down (Official Music Video)

Review by: Justyn Brodsky & Dave Welsh

An exercise in funky, energetic, and theatrical antics that will force you onto the dance floor. Recording Artist Stone White takes us on a fun, witty, and charismatic journey into his comedic music video concept and swingin’ grooves with the Official Music Video for his song “Get On Down”, a hit single from his album Groove Thang.

There are so many different elements that makes Stone White a standout of his kind. From his dancing/choreography abilities and his groove-infused horn section that solidifies his band’s signature sound, this definitely brings us back to an era of music that never died in the first place. In fact, White has put a new spin on it with his high production value and his James Brown and Jamiroquai crossover.

This video just amps you up from the beginning and has a comedic edge immediately from the beginning. Ever seen elderly folk from a nursing home get out of their wheelchairs and walkers to bust out some top-of-the-line dance moves? Well, you will now. It’s a great theme, fits the formula, and with the insatiable talent that the music brings not only makes this video effective, but addictive. This is music we don’t really hear often anymore, and I truly think our friends over at Motown would be enamored by an artist like Stone White.

If you’re looking for something fun, refreshing, with energy that will absolutely captivate you without a dull moment, this video is for you; as well as the song altogether.

Artist Review: Nikki Shae

Review by: Justyn Brodsky

There are some artists that have that niche; that power to pull you in with their undeniable talent, sensational songwriting, and a voice that sings to your soul. Country/Pop Starlet Nikki Shae has this ability, and her musical persona along with the top-notch production value that showcases her songs perfectly is what parallels her natural beauty and talent, ensuring you to love her from the very listen.

Her track “Favourite Hello (Hardest Goodbye)” is a very anthemic and versatile ballad-oriented song that immediately encompasses Shae‘s perfect vocal range for a song like this. It’s an emotional grasp that plays with your heartstrings, and with a powerful chorus to accompany her spot-on vocal harmonies and melody structures, you’ll be falling in love with this song the very first time you give it a listen.

Her other track, “Let Me Love You” is more upbeat with more Rock and Pop sensibilities that shows a whole different side to Shae. Her vocal approach is just as dynamic and beautifully crafted, but still gives you that musical butterfly sensation in your stomach when you listen to her soothing voice in the forefront through every measure. This charismatic song once again showcases eclectic and high-quality production value that brings out the best of Shae‘s vocal structures, and clever lyricism that has a witty edge. Another flawless track that will leave you wanting more from this artist as she again fills your heart with soul-soothing melodies with her beautiful vocal range.

All in all, this is not your average run-of-the-mill Country-coated outfit. There are insatiable elements of strong musicianship, above-average songwriting abilities, and an ambient signature sound that gives you an instant comfort for any and every listener that discovers Nikki Shae. I can definitely see this artist going very far with the solid material that she’s armed with. Even if you aren’t a Country music fan, Nikki Shae will be an exception, hands down. She is as good as they come, and you will be astonished from your very first listen.

Artist Review: MVJOR ARCVNA

Review by: Justyn Brodsky

I’ve come across a spectrum of different EDM artists and projects over this past year, and each of them showcased their own sensibilities and elements that contributed to the appreciation of their craft. But with Musician/Producer MVJOR ARCVNA‘s LP Tower: Volume I, an album with many impressive multi-genre elements, we have an approach of soaring melodies coming from all angles in dynamic, beautiful ways. If you love a melodic approach, then this LP will be your anthem.

Every track from Tower offers up something unique and versatile, but the track that grabbed me was “Funk Pusher”. From clever Post-Production to dynamic instrument usage, including a western-oriented acoustic riff-bender, this track really jumps at you with its melodic textures, ambient melody leads, powerful uptempo beat structure, and a mood that is very comforting as well as energetic.

However, it carries a unique blissful signature sound with it. Nothing ends up being repetitive nor does this song tend to outdo itself in any way, it’s a perfect blend of many defining factors of what makes a song effective; and in my opinion, it’s the imagery that also parallels the moods this song gives off. You can close your eyes, take in every melodic measure, and let the mood caress the airwaves. Or you can rock out to this, and admire every measure’s versatility and uniqueness. The Hip Hop vocals also added a very anthemic tone to the entire song that really showcases the production value. It fits the formula, adds to the chemistry, and is completely on-point with the song’s aura.

Another song that stole me away is the ballad-oriented “SlowerCloser (Letters To You)”. A different formula of how the song plays out, but still just as effective as its predecessor. With the beautiful Male & Female duet-style duel-vocals and the subtle textures to build up the song, we have another masterpiece for the eardrums and the soul. The hook really grabs hold of you and eases you in to the down tempo and ambient progression, once again accompanied by great use of instruments and plugins that solidify this song into something very beautifully crafted. The melodies are once again one of the biggest defining factors present throughout the whole track. The more you listen, the more you start to believe that this is music completely impossible to dislike. This song will absolutely melt you.

There is an overall key signature sound in MVJOR ARCVNA‘s approach that really showcases his brilliance behind the mixing board, and the songwriting complex. It’s a sound that his fans can recognize, and appreciate in the way he is meant to be. Take a listen to Tower: Volume I and experience an astonishing presence of audio and imagery with undeniable melody in the forefront. You won’t be disappointed. Prepare for something new and beautiful.
