There are some voices that carry an essence of uniqueness and ambience when it comes to a song. Indigo Rey is one of those voices in her vibrant and subtle upcoming single “Don’t Believe.”

About the Artist:

Emerging from the Columbia music scene in South Carolina, Pop and R&B Singer/Songwriter Indigo Rey began hitting the ground running in the music realm in 2016, and since then has manifested into a versatile and multifaceted artist with her own signature sound and stylization.

Born in the surrounding area of Atlanta, Georgia in 1997 to Senegalese Immigrant parents, Indigo’s foundation for her love of music started at a very young age and always dreamed of being a star. Growing up, she became inspired from listening to all kinds of eclectic music genres including rock, pop, hip hop, R&B, folk, and anything that caught her ear.

After years of inspirations and aspirations in the world of music, she began to take her artistic merit seriously during her senior year of high school and became determined to record and release her own music. It was during this time she acquired an internship with Jelani, owner of a local Columbia, SC recording studio Studio 23. Fast forward two years, and a starlet in the making came out the gate swinging with her charismatic vocal abilities, catchy songwriting style, and overall musical persona. Known for her melancholy undertone, Indigo utilizes her music as an emotional expression and a way to relieve her reflective overthinking as an anchor and passageway into songwriting and performance.

Artist Review: Cherry Ilex Sound – “Take Me Away” Single

Review by: Justyn Brodsky

What’s interesting about the collective of Cherry Ilex Sound is the fact that the folks behind the project (and name) are also a multifaceted professional studio run by elite musicians. That’s why we are stoked to be writing this review of their new single “Take Me Away”, a pop rock feel-good track led by the studio owner and anchor songwriter Kevin Bailey Jr.

Just like us at Artist Reach, this is another music services platform with a “for musicians, by musicians” motto, which is why this song encompasses high quality authenticity and production value all wrapped up into one catchy tune that any alt/rock listener can appreciate.

Accompanied by a very visually cinematic lyric video, “Take Me Away” takes us back to a time when songwriting quality was higher on artist’ priority lists. Something that’s well executed, versatile and naturally gifted in talent. With a sound reminiscent to the 90s and early 2000s era, Cherry Ilex Sound delivers us a track that is melodic, charismatic and will get easily stuck in your head.

With clean guitar riffs and a punchy rhythm section carrying the torch throughout this track from beginning to end, this song has an unwavering presence of catchy melodies, heartfelt lyrics and a climactic chorus that sticks with you even after the song is over. The thing we love the most is how fresh and natural their signature sound is. The track focuses more on presenting a high quality mix and emphasizing all the right elements in the correct places of the song; which is what makes this single the gem that it really is. The song doesn’t hide behind a mask or any kind of digital saturation whatsoever. We get a catchy tune with great lyrics with a fantastic mix, all straight forward without a gimmick.

We highly recommend this song as well as the Cherry Ilex Sound studio and collective all in one. Everything is self-produced, self-written, and highly eclectic. And when you listen to “Take Me Away” yourself, we guarantee you’ll catch the same feel-good sound that we did. We can’t recommend it highly enough:

Review by: Justyn Brodsky

Electric, eclectic, and atmospheric are a few ways to describe Kobe Ryson‘s newest smash single “The Streetlights.” But to grasp the full picture, this is a song you need to hear to believe.

This reflective and powerful electro pop track centers around a story about a friend that passed away in a car accident while coming home from college for Christmas. The song’s lyrical emphasis is not only identifiable, but incredibly real at the same time. And really puts the content in perspective for every listener. But there is more of a backstory that truly gets you to delve into the artist’s shoes.

Ryson, a rising artist from Dallas (TX), made a promise to his mother last year while she was fighting cancer to release some of his songs and pursue his insatiable passion for music. Kobe soon after posted a song on Soundcloud that was streamed over 85,000 times in a little under a month. Kobe’s first official release “Hands up” also has garnered over 17,000 Spotify streams, and is still being discovered daily.

So it’s no surprise that his most recent effort in “The Streetlights” is grabbing the attention it deserves. It’s a multifaceted track and masterfully crafted with production value that any electronic or EDM listener can appreciate, and adds elements of old school flavors with an unsaturated mainstream sensibility. The vocal melodies are perfectly executed, and the track flows really well through each progressive measure that leaves you wanting to hear more of what Kobe has in his back catalogue.
