Artist Review: The Mountain King – “Hitting Stellar Pipes”

Review by: Justyn Brodsky

A vast array of human emotions in musical form, The Mountain King brings their experimental realm to the surface with their powerful concept record “Hitting Stellar Pipes”.

It’s rare that you find a song/track of continuity that clocks in at 34:05, but once you step outside the box, you find an effectively dark and versatile composition that puts every emotion right into the forefront.

The music evolves as the track plays out, and is perhaps a dive into the conscious mind. It’s a tale of moods, melody, and a musical storyline that never wavers from its dark presence. With riffy and chugging distorted guitars and a punchy rhythm section, The Mountain King holds nothing back with coming at you from all angles of artistic expression. From glistening vocal melodies and heavily grungy elements, “Hitting Stellar Pipes” is a stellar exercise of human emotion in musical form.

The Mountain King is a very conceptual approach to many genre elements. The group of multifaceted musicians tell stories with their use of musicianship factors and instrumentation that makes their artistic merit stand out from anything else of their caliber.

If you wanna lay back, close your eyes, and experience music in a very direct way that hits human thoughts and emotions, “Hitting Stellar Pipes” hits home brilliantly.
