Some Hip Hop just can not be ignored. And that’s exactly the case when NYC rapper D-Smoke dropped his single “Problems”.

With a vocal delivery reminiscent of a more polished Dr. Dre, D-Smoke brings a flow and versatility that touches on both originality and familiarity. “Problems” is one of those tracks that not only catches your attention, but demonstrates this rapper’s artistic merit perfectly as well.

From a very well executed beat structure to an old school conceptual audio sample to fill the shoes of the hook, D-Smoke‘s musicianship is something heavily expressed in his content, context, and vocal overtone. With rhymes that are witty and clever, “Problems” is a song that isn’t too convoluted to follow; it’s a track you can latch onto, and come back time and time again to find something new to appreciate. It’s a song that just doesn’t get old and never loses its impact.

With NYC being an elite music scene, it can sometimes be flooded. Every musician and artist wants their music to garner attention and stand out; but D-Smoke is gonna have a lot less aggravation to deal with, primarily because he figured out the key ingredient to getting your music to stand out, and it’s one that every artist thinks is a secret: outstanding songwriting.

Some bands are just meant to be discovered. This is one of those cases.

With a modernization and stylization that delivers vibe, energy, and a multifaceted chemistry among three brilliant musicians, Rock-tronic power trio TIGER DRIVE hits it out of the park with a cinematic music video for their single “Legend”.

The title advertises this song perfectly. With subtle verses that build up to an electrically explosive chorus, this song does no wrong. We have a charismatic vocal range delivering up lyrical justice both in content and execution; there’s an aura among the trio that gets you to feel TIGER DRIVE‘s energy, authenticity, and visual perception.

The video brings forth a use of color that is something out of Hollywood’s standards. With action, drama, and suspense elements that parallel perfectly with the song’s captivating sequences, “Legend” takes us on a front row edge-of-your-seat cinematic ride.

The catchiness of this track is unwavering – each member feeds off the song’s anticipating structures and really kicks things into high gear when the chorus comes around. When watching the video, each member really shows their true artistic merit in its full package and brings you something that combines originality and familiarity with their dynamic sound.

Album Review: Sim Ross – “Mother’s Day Blues” LP

It’s rare nowadays that you run into one of those albums where you don’t have to skip over one track. This is exactly the case with the multifaceted and passion-driven “Mother’s Day Blues” album from Sim Ross.

Hailing from the elite Austin music scene in Texas, Sim Ross blends a dynamic signature sound that is comprised of roots-rock and Americana with edgier components and presented with limitless musicianship factors and production value. This is one of those clear and concise albums that you know you’ll love from the very first track.

One of Sim‘s notable singles, “Sweetness”, is a perfect example of how effective the likability factors from this album really is, and how it resonates with a great play on creating a multi-genre approach that brings out originality and familiarity. Taking some of the best components from his musical influences that range from Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, and The Black Crowes, Sim Ross‘s edgy vocal tones, innovative guitar progressions, and infectiously catchy hooks really brings every component to the forefront of showcasing Sim effectively, and properly. This is one of those songs that is more of an anthem – it doesn’t leave a stone unturned. The songwriting structure and overall presentation of this track delivers up one of the many gems that makes this album shine the way it does.

Taking a look at another angle of Ross, “Avalanche” brings us to a dark and witty aura that showcases the same signature that has been etched into the musical chemistry, but grasps a whole other part of you. With another powerful chorus and charismatic vocal delivery carrying the torch with authentic guitar work and all the right textures, we delve into another captivating track that brings versatility to this album that is indicative of precision and performance value.

This 14-song catalogue definitely gives a nod to an era when track sequence was an art form. It creates a narrative for the listener, and a perspective for the artist that you can identify with. “Mother’s Day Blues” is one of those albums you’ll keep coming back to time and time again, finding something new each time you play it from beginning to end. With an album this in-depth, creative, and beyond what you’ll anticipate, it definitely makes you eager to see and hear what Sim Ross puts out next. This is the type of artist you truly invest yourself into.

Artist Review: Nadel Paris – “Ooh La La La La” Single

Pop artists can be dime-a-dozen, but there is only one Nadel Paris.

Her acclaimed sophomore single “Ooh La La La La” starts out with her infectious chorus melody, and continues to flourish as the song’s high production value along with Nadel‘s very unique and versatile vocal range takes form and showcases her strengths in musicianship very effectively as the track plays out.

It’s definitely one of those choruses that reels you in from the first listen, and entices you to look deeper into this track, as well as Nadel Paris‘s catalogue of other music altogether.

Combining classic pop sensibilities from the older eras we’ve grown to know and love and integrated into today’s mainstream approach is what really makes this song the gem it really is. She brings out a strong showcase of musicianship, aura, relentless vocal talent, and a signature sound and stylization that separates her from your average run-of-the-mill artist.

The song hit the ground running in the internet radio circuit, and she continues to garner new fans and listeners with every set of ears that discovers this song, and her music catalogue altogether. The song peaked at #31 on the Billboard Dance Club Songs chart, and she even did a formal interview about her on-the-rise success with her insatiable drive and multifaceted talent and impact on the EDM/Pop scene in a very short time – reaching an amazing feat most artists have a hard time getting to, even with decades under their belt. But Paris came out swinging with “Ooh La La La La” and has no intention of slowing her momentum down anytime soon.

Once you take a listen to this infectiously-catchy track, you’ll be singing it in your head (or out loud) relentlessly. It’s impossible not to absolutely love this song. Once you listen yourself, you’ll understand why.

Artist Review: Bad Marriage – “Old School Stereo” Official Music Video

Grab 5 of the best musicians you personally know with similar artist influences, stuff them into one explosive package, and this is the band you get.

A lot of artists have tried to “bring back” the hair band era. Most have failed at it, and some comically pushed themselves to notoriety with it (ie: The Darkness, Ugly Kid Joe, Green Jelly).

Then there’s Boston’s Bad Marriage. A band I truly believe has re-captured what other bands have tried their damndest to capture, but at the same time have put their own spin on the era. And their song “Old School Stereo”, accompanied by a cinematic music video, tackles this concept perfectly.

A band that’s only been around since 2016, these guys have it all – down to the image, style, talent, but best of all – songwriting ability. The chemistry and cog of the machine is comprised of riffy guitar tones and chugs, a pounding rhythm section, and a vocal range that fits this genre like a glove. And although Bad Marriage just by their photographs seem to be a band just lusting for the 80s, they are so much more than that. And it’s this particular song and music video that emphasizes exactly what they’ve managed to bring to the table.

Bringing all the elements from the late 70s and 80s we’ve come to know and love, “Old School Stereo” brings forth a concept that shows us that a band can still execute an old school genre in today’s mainstream sensibility. The video is straight-forward with girls, cinematography, a charismatic and energetic show experience, and a song & video that is produced in a way that showcases Bad Marriage most effectively. Everything from the dangerously catchy chorus, gang-style harmonies, and the overall aura that has made rock & roll what it is today.

And we are definitely not the first ones to take notice of the gem that this band really is. They’ve opened for a vast array of legendary acts, including Buckcherry, Eddie Money, Extreme, Dokken, the Michael Schenker Fest, John5, LA Guns, and many more.

I could seriously go on all day about how fucking awesome this band is, but I think it’d be a better idea to just take our word for it now and go watch/listen to “Old School Stereo” and let Bad Marriage speak for themselves. You’ll be glad we sent you there.

Artist Review: Rachael Hadassah – “Ain’t Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us” Single

Charismatic, fun, with a funky vibe. Singer/Actress Rachael Hadassah hits us with a positive message on her fresh sounding single “Ain’t Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us”.

Jumping fresh into a music career, you might also recognize Hadassah from films like Amazon Prime’s Misunderstood Sadie, Anykah, and the dark twisted comedy Terrorizing the Todd. But now shifting from in front of the cameras to the front of he microphone, we capture a portrait of a very versatile and determined artist.

This single definitely has a fresh city club vibe to it, and garners elements of Hip Hop, and old school R&B with a 90s feel. The chorus delivers us a very catchy and identifiable presence that puts a fresh balance between charisma and texture when it comes to Hadassah‘s vocal range. Her vocals stand very close to the forefront and really put a witty edge to her overall execution of this song.

She definitely encompasses the passion that most artists lack nowadays; you can tell she’s not just after some money grab. She is an aspiring artist truly ready to come out of her shell and shine like a gem. And “Ain’t Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us” is a great indication that nothing’s gonna be stopping Rachael Hadassah‘s drive for success anytime soon.

Artist Review: Bygone Civility – “Circling Again” Single

Infectiously catchy, top-notch musicianship, and limitless production value might be a few ways to describe Bygone Civility‘s single “Circling Again”, but we think it all combines perfectly as a way to portray this gem through the collective musician & listener’s ear.

This song really emphasizes on a lot of key factors — dynamic songwriting, quality lyrics, and versatility. This track is definitely indicative of musician’s that really have a chemistry when it comes to composition and production, because this song has endless likability factors.

Elements of the early-mid 2000s are present while we can still hear some of the iconic music we grew up listening to in the 90s era. The vocals are on point with the effective and charismatic-yet-subtle delivery, but keeps the perfect balance and composure that keeps its aura relevant, elegant, and out in the forefront appropriately.

“Circling Again” is definitely a brilliant demonstration of the members behind Bygone Civility. You can hear depth and substance contributed from each instrument and additive that is brought out authentically, and production-wise. They sustain a very natural sound and don’t marry themselves to a particular type of formula; you just hear a cast of dynamic musicians that are innovative, creative, and multifaceted with a signature sound and stylization that almost anyone can appreciate.

“Circling Again” will definitely entice you to look into more of what Bygone Civility has to offer. And we suggest you do just that. You will not be disappointed.
